Here’s a summary of each feature enhancement with links that provide more information and step-by-step guidance.
The new dashboard brings more efficiency, control, and clarity with using SimpleLegal.
Immediately after logging in, on the new dashboard there will be:
A: Key metrics about the number of open invoices, invoices on hold, and open matters.
B: The number of items needing action from the signed in user.
C: Individual items that need attention from the signed in user.
D: Individual matters, vendors, and budgets most frequently viewed in the last 7 or 30 days by the signed in user.
E: Matters and vendors where the signed in user is assigned the lead.
Invoice approvals provide full transparency for the approver on an invoice and managing invoices. Now there’s visibility on why an invoice was escalated to a specific person or team (NEW!), who approved it, and when.
The invoice now shows (A) admin actions and (B) invoice approvers.
The key functionalities based on roles:
Want to know why someone is on this invoice? Hover over the user's name and click ’Why?’ to see the reason why they were added to the invoice as an approver.
Made a mistake by approving an invoice? Undo an approval by clicking unapprove or rejecting.
See a mistake from previous approvers? Send it back to them. This will unapprove their approval and notify them via email.
Not ready for the invoice to be approved? Put it on pause. This will freeze the approvals as-is until it's ready to resume.
Perform actions on approved invoices. Mark as paid, pause payment, mark sent to AP, and revert to received.

With new invoice approvals, invoice review rules has been updated. With rules management, create, delete, and update invoice approval workflow rules. Access it from Administration >Rule Management.

Legal Requests allows for legal work/assistance to be easily requested by any department. Using a form in SimpleLegal to make the request, a standard process is created to view and manage all requests to the Legal Department.
Now have the ability to see the status of submitted legal requests with context around who reviewed so the legal request submitter isn’t left out in the dark.
Here’s what it looks like for a legal request submitter:
Wondering what the status of a submitted legal request is?
Take a look at the (A) legal requests status and (B) the matter status. If the legal request was approved and becomes a matter, there will be a (C) matter ID for easy reference.
A. Legal Request Statuses:
- Pending- Received and the Legal Department has it in their queue or is reviewing it.
- Rejected- It was rejected and closed.
- Approved- Once a legal request is approved, it will go on to become a matter. Refer to (B) Matter Status below.
B. Matter Status:
- Draft- The approved legal request is in the process of becoming a matter.
- In Progress- The legal request is now a matter and is being worked on.
- Complete- The matter is complete and closed.
- Voided-Something changed and your matter is no longer being worked on.
